Another week.....

Well, here I am at 11pm on Sunday when I know I need to be getting some rest or else I will end up as tired as I was last week. Duane is in the same boat as he starts his new job at MEPS tomorrow which requires him to get up EARLY. He is not the best at being a morning person but he will be great working at MEPS. He is up because of me. I was struggling, and I mean STRUGGLING, with my homework and he really stepped up to help me out. If it weren't for it, it would not have gotten done on time, if at all.

Anyways, our week will be a lot like lasts weeks. Chamorro language class on Tuesday, Gymnastics for Nikolas on Wednesday, watching Dawson's (family friend) football game on Thursday, and Kaden's gymnastics on Friday. We are also going to watch Olivia (family friend and sister to Dawson) play soccer Saturday morning. With all of that going on, Tracy (mother to Dawson and Olivia) and I will be getting some painting done in the house. I'm hoping to get a lot done between Friday night and Saturday. I'm only doing accent walls so it shouldn't be to difficult or long, but anything can happen.

One last thing before saying good night, I would like to mention that Duane accomplished something he has never done before on Saturday. He went with a couple other guys to hike up 'The Brothers' on the Olympic mountains. It was roughly 16 miles total. Duane didn't make it to the peak but made his all time best at an elevation of 5,000 ft. He is very proud of what he accomplished as am I. It was not easy sitting at home waiting for the text or phone call to know that he and the others where down safely. It was a very long day for him. His day started at 2am and he didn't get back home until after 10pm. But, he was a trooper today and even attended a birthday party with the boys and I at the zoo.

We hope everyone has a wonderful week. I have some AWESOME pictures of the boys at gymnastics that I'm hoping to get posted by the end of this week. Love to all, from the Cruz's!

Gymnastics

Okay, I'm going to try and keep this short. I'm so tired today because yet again, the boys were up at 4:45am watching a movie. With an early morning the day before and a late night (putting our new blinds up) I'm just beat.

We had gymnastics today for the first time. I think both boys really LOVED it. Nikolas did so well listening and following directions. I was one of the crazy loud moms with the camera. :) Kaden was a little out of control but that is to be expected at 20 months old and 7pm at night.

After Kaden's class was over, we decided to move him to Friday's instead of Wednesday's as it's at 5:30 vs. 7. Two hours between the boys' classes was just to long of a break and got to be to late in the evening for all of us. So, this means when Mama and Papa come out in a couple weeks, they will get to watch Kaden. That will be nice since they have seen Nikolas participate in other sports.

I do have pictures but I wont be posting them tonight. Hopefully soon!! Have a great night and Love to all from the Cruz family!!

What a Tuesday

Wow, what a day!!! It started at 4:45am when I heard the boys laughing. I get up to see what they are doing, to find them in their playroom watching a movie. Now I'm in a hard spot. Do I get mad at them for being up so early, or do I be happy because they didn't come pounding on my door? I was ok with it for a while as Nikolas tells me "Mom, it's ok, just go back to bed." After laughing at him, I turned to go back to bed and Kaden starts screaming. That proved to me he still needed more sleep so I haul the boys back to bed. Neither of them were happy about it, but I did get about 30 more minutes of sleep before having to get up to get ready.

Both boys had great days at school again today. Nik traced his name today, which of course made my heart melt. UGH, I'm such a softy!! :) Kaden slept for 2 hours at nap time. That was really, really nice and much needed.

After school, the boys and I went right to Chamorro Language class. We are learning our colors red, green, and yellow. Once I can say them correctly, we will speak them in the car at stop signs. I think the boys will enjoy it once they get comfortable.

On the way to our Chamorro class, Nikolas made me cry. He was asking about Devvin, Adiyana, and Abrielle and  finishes with this: "Mom, I miss Devvin. I want to go in his dragon car with him. He is a good man, when can I see him?" Where does he come up with this?!? It broke my heart but at the same time made me happy because he knows his brother and sisters and misses them. I just wish he was old enough to understand why they don't live with us. One day Nikolas and Kaden both will so that will be nice.

Tomorrow is Gymnastics.....wish us well! Love to you all and I'm hoping to take pictures tomorrow.

What a Monday

As predicted, the boys slept really well last night. Kaden woke up once but went back to bed and they didn't wake up until just after 6 this morning. I was on my way to go and get them and I hear them laughing and their little feet running on the floor.....PRICELESS!! That sure makes for a wonderful morning. Nikolas, Kaden, and I have to get out the door by 6:15am to be to work on time. As we are headed into work, little did we know that Duane was going to take it easy this morning. He went in to work a little later than normal, which I'm sure was a nice treat for him.

Today was a very busy day for me at work. Lots of kids, and with it being the first day for them, they were all fussy! Kaden did really well and allowed me to tend to all the children as he played around. I'm noticing that he really likes animals. Overall, we had a good day and to our surprise, it got even better once we picked up Nikolas.

Nikolas had another GREAT day at school. He got an award for good behavior and a tattoo. He also traced his C's and D's all by himself again. Wow, we are so proud of him!

To treat both boys for their great days, they got new shoes and a package of tattoos. Now they can get a tattoo for good days or just good acts at home.

Nikolas and Kaden shocked both Duane and I at dinner. I made tacos and potato ole's but was only going to give the boys chips vs tortilla as they don't eat tacos.....so I thought. Nikolas asked his daddy to make him one and 1/3 of the way into mine, Kaden steals mine and starts eating it. Yes, I was left without food (until I made another one) but it was so awesome to see them finally eating tacos. They are growing so fast!! I'm ready for it to slow down anytime now.

We hope you all have a great Monday evening and a wonderful Tuesday! Love to you all!

GREAT WEEKEND

The Cruz family sure did have a great weekend. It started out by having a wonderful dinner at Messial's house with friends and family on Friday night. It was a late night for the boys, especially since school has started, but they played until about 10pm and loved every minute of it. I can't say that the next morning was wonderful with the boys, but we made it through. They decided to wake up at 5:30 (not sure of my parents theory of keeping kids up late so they sleep in). They woke up early but distracted themselves in their playroom for awhile until Duane decided to get out of bed. I was the lucky one on Saturday that got to sleep in, and I took advantage of it.

Duane made breakfast for the boys, did the dishes, and then let the kids go outside to play. So great to wake up to them running around playing and having fun. Once I got ready, went to help Duane in the garage. I'm so proud of him!! He has really "cleaned house" when it comes to the garage. His mission was to get my car and the trailer in there. It took most of the day, but we accomplished that mission!! Once that project was done, we went to have some Guamanian food at a picnic that Messial and Aiza were DJ'in at. Hung out for an hour or so as we had a big task in front of us. We had to take down the playset at the old house and bring it to the new house. The kids have been missing it and it's one of the last few beautiful weekends we could get it moved. The boys were so excited to know that the playset was coming home with us. It was almost killing them to wait for it to get rebuilt. Sadly, it was bedtime before it was set up to play on. The playset got moved and set back up with only one injury.....a board fell on Duane's head. Not the greatest thing to see as the wife watching from the kitchen window, but thankfully he is ok.

Sunday morning the boys sleep until 6:30....YAY!!! Now it was my turn to get up with them and let Duane sleep (I love the system we have so we both get to sleep in one day out of the weekend). The first thing Nikolas wants to do......go outside and play on the swings. I'm the mean mom and make him stay in until after breakfast. He wasn't too happy with me but he got over it. Once Duane woke up, we had a later breakfast with Messial, Aiza, Cat, and Jeremy.

After the boys woke from their nap, they went straight outside and played all afternoon and had so much fun. While doing homework, I could hear them laughing and screaming, it was great. I'm thinking that tonight will be the night that they sleep like rocks and I just might have to wake them up in the morning for school. Keep fingers crossed that it goes this way!

Before I end this for the night, I have to tell you all what Nikolas said. He is so funny and I just wonder where he comes up with the things he says. We were in the car this evening and Nik asks Duane to play his favorite song, Bounce. Once Duane turns on the song, Nikolas says "Daddy, you are so smart, you make me so happy". REALLY?!? This kid is to polite to be my child!! I love it! Thankfully he has such great manors because Kaden is starting to pick up on it all now to. At 20 months old he says, thank you, please, excuse me, bless you, sorry, and many more words. He is my little "monkey-see, monkey-do".

I am so blessed to have the family that I have. Love to you all and hope you have a wonderful week!

Forgot to mention

Duane and I finally decided to enroll the boys in Gymnastics. Since soccer was shut down for their age, swimming was not doing it for them, hopefully gymnastics will give them what they need.

They start next Wednesday and were really excited when we went in to sign them up. I will try my best to get pictures up as soon as I can after they start.

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

Start of School Year 2012-2013

Well, the boys and I are getting into the swing of things now that I'm back at work and they are in school. Now that Kaden is a year older, he is doing much better being at my center this year. Although he is at my center right now, this does not mean that the circumstances wont change to where he ends up going back to daycare at the CDC. We have a lot of kids this year involved in the Teen Parent Program so if it gets too full, that's when/why we would have to move him to CDC.

Nikolas is doing great. Day two of school and his teachers told me I had to take him out for ice cream because he made GREAT choices several times. Not knowing the full story (as the teachers are not allowed to say to much), Nikolas was sitting at the lunch table and another kid started kicking him. Instead of screaming, crying, yelling, or whatever else my child could have done, he chose to use his nice words. He told the kid "please stop kicking me, it's not nice." I was told that this wasn't the only time Nik was put in a situation like this. After hearing the good choices he made, how could I not take him out for ice cream. It really makes a mommy's heart melt when you have a good report from school. GOOD JOB NIKOLAS!! As another award for him, I'm only working a half day today so he asked to come to work with me today and play.

Sorry this is sideways but I wanted to show this. Nikolas did his B's and C's all by himself and we are so proud of him!

We hope you all have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend!! Love to all!

Continuing with the Blog

After messing around with this blog, I believe I got it to where no one can view it unless I authorize them to. I hope this is true so I can keep this open.

It's been a very busy summer. I guess I should recap from my last post about the family.

Nikolas had his surgery a month ago now and is doing GREAT! After talking all weekend, Duane and I decided that we really needed to talk to the doctor to get a better understanding of why they weren't removing his tonsils as well. When we went to his pre-op the Friday before, the doctor said that they were larger than normal but since the first doctor wasn't going to remove them, he wasn't going to either and that if it did become a problem, we could always remove them later. That of course didn't set well with us. So, Monday morning before surgery, we talked to him again and expressed our concern with Nikolas going through this surgery twice. He understood and said that he was fine with removing both. We are very grateful that we did because come to find out, the tonsils were more of the issue than the adenoids. The two weeks of recovering wasn't too bad. Nikolas and I set up a system for him to tell me how bad (or good) his pain was. Thumbs up meant no pain, no medicine, thumb half way meant a little pain and medicine will be needed soon, and obviously, thumbs down meant lots of pain and need ice and medicine. It worked out great and the cute little kid is still showing me thumbs up for no pain. :) Anyways, since the surgery, Nikolas has been eating a lot more, not breathing heavy and through his mouth, and most importantly, not snoring. He has picked up drooling again, but only while sleeping.

Kaden hasn't had anymore ear infections....knock on wood. He is now in the phase of sticking things in his ears. I don't know if it's because they hurt and he is used to the pain and that is how he makes if feel better, or if it's because he just likes to do it and drive me crazy. I'm sure it's the second one but I might bring it up to his doctor just to get him checked out. Other than that, he is still the wild and crazy boy he has been since day 1.

Duane's back is doing better and is back to training for the tough muder. I still think he is crazy but it's something he wants to do so I'm being a supportive wife. Plus, I will LOVE to laugh at him while he is running it.

My foot is doing a lot better, finally. The doctor is happy with the progress and probably wont need surgery. I might as well just get my feet cut off, maybe I would stop hurting myself that way. :)

The biggest news of all, WE MOVED!!! Not only did we move a week and a half ago, Duane did an amazing job with finding a renter for our old house. They move in this weekend and it's a relief to know that it's not vacant. We LOVE our new home. The boys and I have living outside as much as possible. Nikolas is a pro at riding his bike now, which makes me so happy. Kaden was looking a little left out so I went and bought him a tricycle. It made him very frustrated last week but thankfully today he was on it and just pushing himself with his feet. Finally past the frustration part. It's so great having the space for them to be able to do this. I will try and get pictures taken and posted soon. But I might make everyone wait until I get it painted.

Well, sorry it's so long. I know I say this every time but I'm really going to try and update this more often. We hope this finds everyone happy and well. We love and miss you all!!

Family Fun

Here is the cake I made for Nikolas' 3rd birthday. Lions, and Tigers, and Bears......OH MY!!!

The jeep Nikolas got for his birthday from Mamma and Pappa

Devvin, Kaden (crying), Duane, Nikolas, Adiyana, and Abrielle. On our way to Neah Bay (furthest Northwestern most part of the continental US)

The crew at Neah Bay. Long drive (especially with all 5 kids complaining) but was worth it once we got there and everyone was happy!

SUMMER FUN

Time has been flying since I posted last! Our summer has been fun and full, and now a little quiet since the older kids have gone back to AL.

We were fortunate enough to get to see Devvin, Adiyana, and Abrielle for 2 weeks this summer. It was short but it was better than no time at all. The two weeks was great, busy, and full of laughter and fun. I know that Nikolas and Kaden miss them so much right now.

I should fill some of you in on the Cruz Family craziness :). While at Nikolas' 3 year doctor appointment, we were referred to ENT (Ears, nose, and throat) to check why he is snoring. After an x-ray, it was discovered that his adenoids are enlarged and blocking his ability to breath. He is now getting those removed at the end of June. I'm a little freaked out but I know that it will be much better when he can breath better and hopefully sleep and eat better as well.

Along with that, Kaden has a problem with ear infections. We go back to the doctor in August to check his ears again and if they aren't cleared, he will be referred to ENT as well. Once there, they will determine if the placing of tubes is necessary. I will keep you all informed with all of this as the time goes on.

Duane is training for the Tough Mudder here in Seattle in September. I should say he is training when he isn't injuring his back. :) Either way, I'm proud of him and can't wait for September to go and take pictures of him and his team to accomplish this.

The older kids, we just found out, are moving to TX. We don't know the whole story as of yet, but we are trying to get them up here instead. Everyone, please keep your fingers crossed for us on that one. It would be a wonderful blessing if we could spend some extra time with the kids and see them in their activities and school.

Now, on to me. I broke my foot about 5 years ago and have been having issues with it again for the last year. I have been in and out of a boot with no results. I'm not currently in a boot and using a bone stimulator to try and heal the old fracture. The bone stimulator sends ultra-sound waves to the bone (or something like that). I will know more at the beginning of August about how my progress is.

So, since i obviously don't have enough on my plate right now, I decided to put Kaden in underwear today. I had a late start so he wasn't in them until the afternoon time but so far he is loving it. I'm going to bribe him with lots and lots of M&M's and hope for the best :). I'm tired of changing diapers and paying for them.

Well, I hope everyone is doing well. I will add a few pictures really quick so I have been horrible with that as well.

Love to all!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY NIKOLAS

Today my little boy is 3 years old! I can't believe how fast the time has gone. We celebrated his birthday yesterday, Sunday, with our friends and family. It was a perfect day. The first nice day we have had in over a week, so that was awesome.

I did not do as well of a job with picture taking as my mother would have, but I did get a few. I still have to upload them so hopefully tonight I can get them posted for you all to enjoy.

I'm going to have to say that Mama and Papa took the prize of the best present with the jeep and Olivia (family friend) took second with a car tent. Nikolas was so excited by everything he got. One good thing with that boy, is he shares the love with all his toys. I really think watching "Toy Story" all the time has taught him how to love his toys and how to play with them. He sleeps with his small toys and hords them in his tent and gets rough with the bigger toys. And of course, Kaden is right there just a few steps behind doing the same thing. :)

I made Nikolas' cake. We had lions and tigers and bears (Oh, My!) as cake pops and a train that they all stuck into. I need to give thanks to Cat and Jeremy Lilly for helping with the building of the train.

I have to admit, his cake was hastily done. It turned out great and everyone loved it but it was hard to prepare on Saturday. Saturday we had some sad news that Duane's Auntie Chee passed away, May 5, 2012. Auntie Chee was very close to both of the boys and loved seeing them, as they loved seeing her. She is very much loved in our family and we will continue to talk to the boys about her as they get older. I just wish Kaden was a little older so he would have a chance to remember her. R.I.P Auntie Chee!!

But, as Auntie Chee would have it no other way, we continued on with the celebration of bo-boy's (that was her name for Nikolas and Kaden) birthday party with her in our hearts.

Today I gave Nikolas extra cake pops to share with all his friends at preschool.

HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY MY LITTLE MAN!! We love you so much and hope you all the happiness in the world!

Kaden in Trouble

Since I have busted Nikolas out with getting into trouble, I better do the same and bust Kaden.

Last week while Kaden was at school, he decided to bite one of the other children TWICE in one day. The child did nothing to him but I guess Kaden had it out for him.....I guess this is proof that he is my kid. :) As I never had this problem with Nikolas, I was at a loss on how to fix the problem. I finally decided that he, Kaden, needed to find out how bad it hurts when you get bit. So, I waited until he bit Nikolas (yes, it was almost an everyday occurrence. But, Nikolas usually deserved it so I didn't do much to stop it) and then I bit him in the arm. He screamed for a while but then got over it. I didn't know if just biting him the one time would fix it or not.

The next day at school, when I pick him up, I asked if had bitten anyone. Both of his teachers just started laughing and couldn't stop. Once they were able to tell me WHY they were laughing, I understood. Kaden was one of three children listening to his teacher read a book. Out of nowhere, Kaden bends down and bites his teacher on the knee. She picks him up to pick on him and he bites her on the shoulder. She then flips him over her back so he is upside down and he bites her again on her side. Yes, as it was to an adult, it was funny. But he was told he couldn't bite by both his teachers and by me.

I believe that all happened Wednesday and Thursday of last week. Since then, he has not tried to bite anyone at all. I hope I don't jinx myself but so far, so good!!

Nikolas in trouble

Since I'm going to try and make this blog into a book later for the boys, I figured I really needed to add in Nikolas getting in DEEP trouble for the first time.

Although I'm posting about this today, it actually happened yesterday, Tuesday April 10, 2012. I always go and pick Nikolas up first after work and then Kaden. When we got to Kaden's school everything was great (other than Kaden screaming because I was trying to make him walk out). Nikolas knows that he has to stand on the sidewalk while I put Kaden in his car seat. Never has there been a problem with him doing this......until now!

I have Kaden half buckled in and I hear a "thud". I instantly look up and can only assume Nikolas did something. I slam the car door and find out that my son had just thrown a rock at the car next to us. I'm so angry at this point that I almost lose my mind. I called him over to me, made him knock on the man's car door (oh yeah, forgot to mention that the man was in his car) and say he was sorry for throwing the rock. I then throw him in his car seat and told him not to move.

We start checking out the window where the rock hit and there was only a little scratch. I begged (one step away from being on my knees begging) to give the man my information so that if there was any damage that we would pay for it. He wouldn't take anything from me. He was more or less laughing about it but he was probably laughing at me being so worked up. I apologized numerous times to him.

Once I got the boys buckled in and I got myself in the car, Nikolas knew that if he talked, it would be worse. He was quiet all the way home. I didn't know what to do with him about this. I was just so mad and so embarrassed. I finally decided that 2 spankings and removal of all toys was the best option. I gave him a tote and told him to put all his toys in it. He knew I was serious because it took less than 5 minutes to have his room cleaned up. Nikolas is now only allowed to read books for 5 days. He has to earn 5 stickers for good days to get them back. His preschool knows and his behavior at home is also factored in.

I am now proud of him. He remembers what he did that was wrong. We talked about it when we were headed to school and after I picked him up. He is still apologizing to me about it and I don't even say anything about it that makes him do it. He earned his first sticker today so I'm hopeful that this will be easy and we will get 5 in a row. Nikolas was very proud of himself when he put his sticker on his reward chart tonight.

I have learned that kids will do things, even when they don't mean to. We have had problems with him throwing rocks so I'm hoping this will fix the problem. If this is the worst thing he does, we are doing pretty darn good.

Nikolas, when you are old enough to read this......I hope you learned by now to listen to your mother!! I love you!

Walt Disney World

The boys playing on the elephants at Animal Kingdom

Nikolas and Rafiki. Grandma has the picture of him meeting Rafiki....a little scary but NO tears!

Duane and Kaden with Rafiki!

As you can tell, Kaden is VERY unsure of these characters. Nikolas was worried but did great! We got to meet Mickey and Minne at the Magic Kingdom

This was a HUGE moment for Nikolas....It's Woody and Jessie!! Kaden, still unsure :) Grandma has the picture of Nikolas meeting Buzz.....then his Toy Story friends are complete!

It was a very hot day, but both boys enjoyed the parade. We had so much fun!!!

So, it didn't take me all weekend to get this done. The boys are "napping"........playing in their room instead of sleeping....so I had some time to get this done. These are just a very small portion of the pictures taken. My plan is to make an album for the boys. Nikolas loves to look through pictures of people he knows. When I actually get some time, I plan to make a scrapbook for both boys so this trip will also be in there!

Craft Day

The Cruz boys decided that they wanted to paint, color, and play with play-doh. I'm very happy with how much Kaden enjoyed this. As you can see, he is playing with the play-doh but let me tell you, he is VERY unsure of it. I would have to put it in his hands and smash them together. Kaden decided that it really wasn't his thing right now so we will try again later. He didn't throw a fit, just decided he was done. Nikolas on the other hand, loves the crafts. I don't know where he gets it because i dread this......in my house. It can be very messy. Oh well, it keeps them from beating each other up and screaming so we had success for about 30 minutes.

I finally downloaded all the pictures off my camera so I will be working on the Disney ones next. Maybe by the end of the weekend I can have something posted :) I know, promises, promises!!

Love to all!!

Happy Friday!

Okay, Okay......It's been a while since I posted. We have gone and returned from Disney World already. The family had a BLAST!! Nikolas is still talking about who he met and how nice they were. It's awesome and I can't wait to take them again.

Nikolas will be "Star of the Week" on March 26th. I'm hoping to get his poster made this weekend, or at least started. He is supposed to put pictures of anything he wants. I'm thinking of getting a white poster board and letting him finger paint the whole thing and then put pictures of his liking. :) I'll take pictures of what his masterpiece becomes and one day I will post them! Ha!

Kaden is doing really well in school as well. Doesn't cry anymore when I drop him off (makes my heart feel better). He is always very happy when I pick him up. Kaden's teachers say that he is already "testing" his limits and it's hard for them to tell him no because he is so cute. Of course, I have to agree with them. I'm hoping to see some art projects from him soon.

Well, the kids are getting busy now so I'll have to cut this short. We love you all and I really hope to get pictures up soon like promised!

Happy President's Day

The boys and I have been lucky enough to have a long weekend. There was no school on Friday, then today (Monday) is President's Day, and tomorrow is a short day (done at 11). Sadly, we haven't been able to do to much this weekend as the boys have both been sick. They are fighting a nasty cold, fever, and add to that, teething for Kaden. Thankfully Kaden has done a lot of sleeping but Nikolas hasn't slept much. I think he keeps waking up from not being able to breath (poor kiddo).

Along with having sick boys, Duane and I have made a big decision for our family. In roughly 5 months, the Cruz family will be moving to a new home in Port Orchard.

The development we will be living in is called McCormick Meadows. It is a Quadrant Home development. We start the process by picking out a lot. Since our realtor found out about this new development early enough, Duane and I were lucky enough to get the biggest lot. Usually they aren't very big lots but the one we are getting is almost exactly the same size that we have now. It's in a culdesac so the boys will be able to play without their mother freaking out all the time about cars. The fence in the background of this picture will be our fence. Obviously not the whole fence but a section of it will be. One of our neighbors will be Roxanne and Travis Bassett (our cousins). We are all very excited.

As of yesterday, we picked out our house plan that we like and now we get to start picking out everything that goes in the house to make it complete. We are hoping to "break ground" in about a month or so. Once we break ground, the house will be built in 57 working days (hoping that there are no issues that slows the process). So, mid July we should be moving into our new home. These are not the colors of our house, as we have not chosen colors yet.

We will be sure to keep everyone posted as this process get underway and complete.

Before I end this for the day, I would like to let everyone know how the boys are doing in swimming. Kaden....hmmm, how to put this...isn't a fan. HAHA!! He does not like to be held, so he screams the whole time. He would rather play in the kid pool and be able to walk and do his own thing.
Nikolas on the other hand, is doing AWESOME! I bought him some goggles a while ago and that has transformed him 100%. He will now put his head under water with no fear. He also jumps into the pool trusting that I will be there to pick him back up. Before he would only jump in if my hands were on him. Nikolas is doing so well and we are so proud of him. Duane couldn't believe how well he was doing when he saw him on Thursday. With them being as sick as they are still, we wont be going to swimming Tuesday. Hopefully we will make it on Thursday though. Only time will tell. And I would rather have them healthy, as we are going to Disney World on Sunday. :) No sick boys for that AMAZING trip!!!

Everyone have a wonderful Monday! Be ready for a lot of pictures from Disney World!

Happy Sunday

Well, I just need to brag about my boys for a minute.

They let us sleep in today. Ok, 6:30am really isn't sleeping in but considering that Duane and I were up and moving about the house even before the boys, it's a start. :) The boys woke up in good moods and very cuddly and fun.

I guess I should mention that I didn't see the much yesterday. I went and had "mommy" time. Got my hair done (Thank you Andrew and Aniela) and then had my monthly book club get together. It was great for me and great for Duane, Nikolas and Kaden. Much needed time both ways. Anyways....when they woke this morning, I just couldn't get enough of them. We started watching "Woody/Buzz", also known as Toy Story 3. Half way through that, Nikolas found the Chipmunks CD and wanted to dance. How can you say no to that?!?

We put the CD on and the house was turned into a club. We were all dancing, singing, and having a blast. The boys have such personalities. They truly enjoy just being carefree and crazy.

Sorry, no pictures right now and I'm really wishing I had video of this morning. But, I have videos of them dancing so I will find them and post them. It's so much fun to watch.

With this, Kaden is feeling much better. Like I said, he woke up happy so I didn't give him his ear numbing drops today. Just gave him is antibiotics that he has to take till empty (about 7 days).

Now they are in the bath, their FAVORITE place to be. We are getting ready for our day. Love to all and have a wonderful Sunday!!

A few days later....

Wow, it's been a few days since I have had the energy to post. The boys started swimming lessons on Tuesday. I forgot how much of a workout it is for me. They have swimming every Tuesday and Thursday but we did not make it yesterday.

All morning yesterday, Kaden was screaming and crying. I would pick him up and he wouldn't want that and want down. I would put him down and he didn't want that. It was a very long morning for us. I waiting until I was done with work and decided to take him to the doctor. We found out that he has an ear infection. I didn't know what signs to really look for other than tugging at the ears. Nikolas has never had one so this is the first ear infection for us. Thankfully, Kaden is feeling much better this morning. We are all hoping he will be 100% by next week for CDC (Child Development Center) and swimming.

Back to swimming...Kaden's lesson is first and then it's Nikolas'. I already really like Kaden's instructor. They are all about light touching and holding as the kids need to "feel" the water around them. With that, Kaden went under water for the first time. He did very well, in fact, he came back up laughing. Not much of a surprise to me as he is my daredevil. Nikolas on the other hand...went under water but begged for me to not do it again. It's so funny how different these two boys are. I think I'm going to purchase the boys some goggles and maybe Nik will be more open to going under. We can hope. All in all, the boys had fun and the first lesson went well.

We hope everyone has a wonderful Friday and I will try to get some pictures up this weekend, if I have time. Love to all!!

Swimming

Well, we received great news today that the boys will be in swimming lessons. Nikolas is beyond excited and ready to start. Kaden will just love being in the water. I'm so happy that they got enrolled.

Today was our first day of getting up early and having longer days at school and work. The boys and I were really tired when we got home today but it was good. Although we were tired, I got crazy and decided to give the boys haircuts. Nikolas loves getting his haircut, and Kaden did very well too. He was curious about the clippers but for a 1 year old, he did great.

I also got a call from the daycare that there is a spot for Kaden. Right now, he does go to work with me but Duane and I don't feel he is getting the learning and structure he should be. Since I'm working more, we can afford to put him in CDC (Child Development Center). It should be good for both of us. It's not at the center we prefer, but it's a spot and if they will let me take it with knowing we want to move to the other center when a spot is available, we will take this one. Kaden gets jealous when I'm caring for another child and is holding them, that he lashes out and bites me. Like I said, it will be good for him. :)

Tomorrow is Friday February 2, 2012. The boys and I will be sitting in the audience watching Duane graduate with his MBA. We are so proud of him. This is a combined graduation for all military. His Keller Graduation is in June. Duane has worked hard for this and deserves the two graduations that he is getting. :)

We hope everyone has a great Friday!

Phone Calls

Well, last night as expected, we were all very tired.

I made the boys chicken nuggets for dinner, but to my surprise, they didn't want any. They instead wanted my Chicken Tacos (from www.pioneerwomen.com). They are amazing and you should all check them out.

While having dinner, Duane and I decided to call a friend we haven't talked to in awhile, Josh (Nikolas' godfather). Nikolas of course took over the conversation and was just making us all laugh. After that, he started saying he wanted to talk to Devvin, Adiyana, and Abrielle. He got to talk to all of them but Devvin. Still, he wasn't satisfied with that. Knowing he doesn't talk to Nana and Tata very often, we thought it would fun to call them. Nikolas loved talking to Nana! I think it made her day. Especially when we called Tata and all he kept saying was that he wanted to talk to Nana again so we had to call her back and let her know. It was so funny.

After all these phone calls, we got the boys ready for bed. I bought them some "Look and Find" books so we went through one of them and found all the objects. The boys do very well at bedtime. If I put them down together, they will talk and play for a little while but then they close there eyes and that's the end of them. We didn't hear anything from them until 6 this morning when Nikolas came in and turned our light on. Not a way I enjoy being woke up but what can you do.

We are now eating our breakfast and getting ready for the day. This will be my last morning post for a while as I start working FULL TIME again tomorrow. Ok, other than Friday's I should say. Unless I have time at work, I will be posting in the evenings.

This picture was taken in SD with Mama and Papa but I figured I needed to add a photo for all.

We hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday. And, everyone keep their fingers crossed. Tomorrow by noon we find out if the boys will be taking swimming lessons. It's like a lottery system so it's all generated by the computer. I'll let you all know what the verdict is.

Love to all!!

Long Night

Wow, it felt like there was a newborn in the Cruz household again last night. I say this because I don't think Duane and I got much sleep.
We decided to go to dinner around 6pm last night and with the waiter being VERY slow, we didn't get home until almost 9. That in itself is really late for the boys to be going to sleep. They were over tired trying to eat dinner (Nikolas decided to try and sleep vs eat). On top of being over tired, Nikolas has now caught a cold and has a hard time breathing out of his nose.

Around midnight, Nikolas got up to go to the bathroom but must not have made it because I woke up to him screaming and crying in the bathroom. That of course, woke his brother up. From there, it didn't get any better. I gave Kaden to Duane, changed Nikolas and brought him in our room to get him calmed down. Around 1, Duane started coughing like crazy. After that, Kaden decided he couldn't get comfortable and just tossed and turned and cried. I put him back in his crib, just for him to scream at the top of his lungs for 40 minutes. I couldn't take it anymore so I went back and got him. We got maybe an hour sleep after that, then he started all over again. Duane put him in his crib and made him cry it out for an hour. During all of this, I was so tired I didn't put Nikolas back in bed. So, of a king size bed, I had the very edge. Still had feet and/or head pushed into my back. UGH!

Duane says the boys are never allowed in our bed again! I can only hope that we both follow through with that. All four of us are very tired today. I'm thinking it will be an early night for us tonight!

Enough complaining, it's a new day and we might as well enjoy it. The sun is peeking out so some fresh air will do us all some good. I was able to put Kaden down for his morning nap. We leave for work and preschool in an hour and Nikolas can't wait. It's been four days since he was there last and he really enjoys going.

We hope everyone has a wonderful day. I need to go and make some coffee now before Mickey Mouse Clubhouse puts me to sleep.

Love to all!

New Blog

Now that I have put in everyone's email address, you will be receiving the new posts to this blog about the boys. I hope you don't mind but i wanted you all to stay in the loop of these 2 growing kids. I will try to stay up on the posts.

The Beginning

I found out just yesterday that instead of keeping a notebook of all the sayings the boys come up with as the years go on, I can keep them on this blog and whenever I'm ready, I can print them out. I thought it was the greatest idea. I really wish I would have heard about this before Nikolas started talking but starting at 2 1/2 isn't to bad. This will even print the pictures that I post on here, which a notebook wouldn't have. It's amazing!!

I have another blog that I will admit, I do not update at all. I'm really hoping I will update this one often as it will turn into a memory book for the boys and Duane and I down the road.

Today Monday January 30, 2010

The boys and I are taking it easy this morning with getting ready for our day. We don't have to go to work or preschool as it is a Non-Student day. Now, you would think that instead of just having some random day off, they would change it due to us missing a whole week of school two weeks ago due to snow. Well, I guess we will be making the days up during the summer.

Anyways, Nikolas has been watching Duane and I on our computers a lot in the last few months. We always have to say "Be quiet, we are doing homework." For Christmas, Nikolas got a fancy kid computer so now all we hear from him is "Be quiet, I am doing homework and I'm busy."

Nikolas has really grown in the last month. He has gotten taller, more talkative, and surprises us every day with new things he learns in school. When Mama (Grandma Nelson) was here for Kaden's birthday, she couldn't believe how well Nikolas' coloring has improved. I love watching the wheels turn as he his growing and trying to figure everything out.

As for Kaden, he is really growing into his personality. He turned 1 on January 11th and is growing by the minute.

As I am typing this, he is finishing his breakfast. As a fast recap of Kaden, he started crawling late (well, around 6-7 months vs Nikolas' 5 months). So maybe not late but a little slower than his brother. That didn't stop him though. After crawling he turned around and was walking by 10 months (he had Nikolas beat with walking). Kaden has 6 teeth and he uses them to eat and bite his brother. Wow, this is a hard thing to stop. Because of the biting, Kaden has learned what time-out is and will now sit there until told he can get up. I'm proud of Duane, he was the one that started time-out with Kaden and it wasn't easy the first few times. Duane was consistent and started us off on the right foot with it.

Like I stated, Kaden turned 1 on January 11th. Mama (Grandma Nelson) came out to help us bring in the sad (ok happy day but not for mommy) day. It was a great turn out of the party. Lots of friends and family. Kaden got so many cars, even he doesn't know what to do with them. I guess that's a good thing though.

We are now at the end of January and Kaden still doesn't have many words. Mostly mom, dad, and uh oh. We are working on it though. If you say hello, he will pretend he is holding a phone. He waves hi, bye, gives high fives, and kisses. With the kisses, you have to be careful of the teeth as he will dig them into you. When he does that, it's not on purpose. He just gets excited and throws his head forward.

With February about to start, we have to start getting ready for our trip to Disney World. Thankfully I still have a couple weeks but we are very excited...and nervous. I'm very thankful that Mama, Papa, Uncle Andrew, and Aunt Aniela will all be there to help have eyes on the boys. This is a very scary thing for me to think about with all the crowds and I know I will be a nervous wreak.

On Thursday, February 2nd we will find out if the boys made it on the roster for swimming lessons. I really hope they do because they need something to do. They love the pool at the YMCA and it's great for them to learn at a young age. Along with that, Nikolas will be able to do sports and tumbling.

Well, day one is now becoming a book and both boys are getting antsy. We are headed to Target and Commissary this morning. We hope everyone has a wonderful day and I hope to post again soon.

Love to all!!
