Continuing with the Blog

After messing around with this blog, I believe I got it to where no one can view it unless I authorize them to. I hope this is true so I can keep this open.

It's been a very busy summer. I guess I should recap from my last post about the family.

Nikolas had his surgery a month ago now and is doing GREAT! After talking all weekend, Duane and I decided that we really needed to talk to the doctor to get a better understanding of why they weren't removing his tonsils as well. When we went to his pre-op the Friday before, the doctor said that they were larger than normal but since the first doctor wasn't going to remove them, he wasn't going to either and that if it did become a problem, we could always remove them later. That of course didn't set well with us. So, Monday morning before surgery, we talked to him again and expressed our concern with Nikolas going through this surgery twice. He understood and said that he was fine with removing both. We are very grateful that we did because come to find out, the tonsils were more of the issue than the adenoids. The two weeks of recovering wasn't too bad. Nikolas and I set up a system for him to tell me how bad (or good) his pain was. Thumbs up meant no pain, no medicine, thumb half way meant a little pain and medicine will be needed soon, and obviously, thumbs down meant lots of pain and need ice and medicine. It worked out great and the cute little kid is still showing me thumbs up for no pain. :) Anyways, since the surgery, Nikolas has been eating a lot more, not breathing heavy and through his mouth, and most importantly, not snoring. He has picked up drooling again, but only while sleeping.

Kaden hasn't had anymore ear infections....knock on wood. He is now in the phase of sticking things in his ears. I don't know if it's because they hurt and he is used to the pain and that is how he makes if feel better, or if it's because he just likes to do it and drive me crazy. I'm sure it's the second one but I might bring it up to his doctor just to get him checked out. Other than that, he is still the wild and crazy boy he has been since day 1.

Duane's back is doing better and is back to training for the tough muder. I still think he is crazy but it's something he wants to do so I'm being a supportive wife. Plus, I will LOVE to laugh at him while he is running it.

My foot is doing a lot better, finally. The doctor is happy with the progress and probably wont need surgery. I might as well just get my feet cut off, maybe I would stop hurting myself that way. :)

The biggest news of all, WE MOVED!!! Not only did we move a week and a half ago, Duane did an amazing job with finding a renter for our old house. They move in this weekend and it's a relief to know that it's not vacant. We LOVE our new home. The boys and I have living outside as much as possible. Nikolas is a pro at riding his bike now, which makes me so happy. Kaden was looking a little left out so I went and bought him a tricycle. It made him very frustrated last week but thankfully today he was on it and just pushing himself with his feet. Finally past the frustration part. It's so great having the space for them to be able to do this. I will try and get pictures taken and posted soon. But I might make everyone wait until I get it painted.

Well, sorry it's so long. I know I say this every time but I'm really going to try and update this more often. We hope this finds everyone happy and well. We love and miss you all!!
